Zada Pyssen

January 6, 1943 — July 6, 2023

Zada Nan Turberville Pyssen, 80, of Boling, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side following a lengthy battle of breast cancer. Zada was born January 6, 1943 in Harlingen, Texas to Hubbard P. Turberville and Nell (Young) Turberville.

Zada grew up in La Feria, Tx. and graduated from La Feria High School in 1960. She then went on to attend Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where she received a bachelor's degree in education. She was a member of the Delta Theta Sorority, choir member, Javelina cheerleader, and T Association Sweetheart. Texas A&I was also where she met the love of her life, Bobby Pyssen. He played football for A&I where she not only cheered him on from the sidelines but continued to be his cheerleader throughout life. They soon married on January 26, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Kingsville. Shortly after, they started a family and had three beautiful children, Debi, Jay, and Christi. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first.

After College they moved to Boling where she started her teaching career. Together Bob and Zada transitioned to many different schools across the state of Texas; Boling, Carrizo Springs, Del Valle, Sweeny, Luling, Rockport, and Pleasanton. She loved being a coach’s wife, sharing her experiences and meeting so many wonderful people along their journey together. Being a coach's wife and raising three children at home was like being a team captain off the field, managing the game of life with resilience and love. For 38 years, she dedicated her life to educating and inspiring others. Her legacy will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she touched.

Zada was an avid reader and movie enthusiast, she found joy in the simplest things. Her collection of books is a treasure trove of knowledge, each one reflecting her love for learning. She had numerous hobbies; reading, journaling, traveling, taking care of her plants, hummingbird watching, and spending time with friends and family. She loved writing letters and sending cards to friends and loved ones. Zada enjoyed being a part of the Iago Federated Church where she was involved in bible studies, Sunday school, and vacation bible school. Her love for Jesus was evident and a testament to her enduring faith.

Her bond with her grandchildren is like a cherished book, filled with pages of laughter, lessons, and love, creating timeless memories in every chapter. Through the years she and Bob have traveled many a mile attending football, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, rodeos, baseball, track, powerlifting, softball, livestock shows, cheer competitions, theater plays, swim meets, graduations, births, baptisms, you name it they were there.

Zada Pyssen was survived by her three children, Debi Stavinoha (Kevin) of Brazoria, Jay Pyssen (Michelle) of Gonzales, and Christi Stancik (Darrell) of Eagle Lake.  Six grandchildren, Koby Stavinoha (Shannon) of Angleton, Robby Pyssen (Andrea) of Pleasanton, Mallory Pyssen of Gonzales, Lantz Pyssen of Uvalde, Madisyn Stancik of Eagle Lake, Maisyn Stancik of Eagle Lake.  Five great-grandchildren, Kylie and Korbyn Stavinoha of Angleton, Sutton, Stryker and Stone Pyssen of Pleasanton, and many other family and friends.
