Thomas Michael Kutach, 36, of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on January 13, 1985, in Wharton, Texas to parents Darrel and Jeanine Shoop Kutach.
Thomas was raised in Boling and graduated from Boling High School with the class of 2003. He later attended and graduated from Wharton County Junior College with a degree in Process Technology. He married Lisa Abbott on July 14, 2007, in Wharton. Thomas worked at Phillip 66 in process technology. Thomas enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping hogs, and making BBQ pits and fire pits for friends and family. He was called to serve in the Boling Volunteer Fire Department at an early age, joining in 2003 able to serve for 18 years. He was the Fire Marshall for BVFD and went to New Gulf Elementary School to educate the children about fire safety. He also volunteered his time as a Director with the Wharton County Youth Fair and at numerous BBQ fundraisers and church picnics. He was a jokester by nature, had a wicked sense of humor and a mischievous smile. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex Allen and Marline Shoop and Paul and Barbara Svatek.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Lisa Kutach of Wharton, children, Logan Charles Torres, Kate Jillian Kutach, Hope Evelyn Kutach and Harper Claire Kutach, parents, Darrel and Jeanine Kutach, grandparents, Clara and Adolph Kutach, father and mother in law, Robert and Pat Abbott, sisters, Jeanette Marie Kutach, Stephanie Rachell Kutach, brothers, Joshua Mark Kutach and David Wayne Kutach and wife, Shelly, nieces and nephews, Alyssa Thonsgaard, Aaron Kutach, Evelyn Kutach, Rylee, Dylan, and Dawson Kutach, Cydney and Lane Abbott, numerous cousins and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Wharton Funeral Home, starting at 5 p.m. with rosary at 7pm. The funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Sam Appiasi officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Kutach, David Kutach, Logan Torres, Justin Storts, James Tabor, Frank Garza, Richard Villasana and Robbie Abbott. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Davis, Douglas Mach, Jacob Glen, Doug Yeamans, and Dominic Novak; along with members of the Boling Volunteer Fire Department and Directors and Associated directs of the Wharton County Your Fair and Exhibition.
Memorials can be made to the Boling Volunteer Fire Department and Wharton County Youth Fair.
