Ted Gonzales Jr.

Teodoro “Ted” Gonzales, Jr., a devoted father and grandfather and a beloved husband, passed away suddenly on July 8, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on October 17, 1967, in Houston, TX to Aurora Sanchez and the late Teodoro Gonzales, Sr.

Ted lived a life filled with hard work, love, and laughter. He worked as an electrician, pouring his heart into every project, fueled by a passion for providing the finer things in life for his family.

Ted's great love for the outdoors was mirrored in his favorite pastimes. He found joy in fishing and spent countless hours on the golf course, playing rounds with friends and family alike. An avid poker player, he entertained his loved ones with his wit and skill, often sharing a warm smile and a good story. However, it was his role as a “Popo” that brought him the greatest joy. He lovingly embraced this title, proudly teaching his grandchildren the game of golf and sharing moments that will forever be etched in their hearts.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Katrina Gonzales. of El Campo, devoted mother, Aurora Sanchez, and his children, Matthew Gonzales of Wharton and Ryan Gonzales of Waco, Kimberly Castro and Sabrina Arriaga of Wharton, Michael Castro and fiancé, Jessie Moore of Wharton and Damion Castro of El Campo; grandchildren, Mason Castro and Kylar Castro and 2 on the way, sister, Geneva Marie Gonzales and brother, David Gonzales and wife, Janet. His familial bonds were deeply cherished, and he will be profoundly missed.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Ted will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, starting at 5:00 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry Martinez and Jamey Escamilla.
