Stephen Reed Moers

Stephen Reed Moers, 66, of Wharton passed away at a Wharton hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2026. Born on January 14, 1960, in Houston to Johanna Yvonne Singleton East and the late Edward August Moers.Stephen was raised in Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School. He later attended welding classes at Wharton County Junior College. He enjoyed working in the agriculture industry as a welder and fabricator for several grass farms in the area.

Stephen married Lisa Kubena on August 15, 1981, celebrating 45 years of marriage this year. Stephen enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking care of everybody in the family. also loved hunting, fishing, being with his family and helping others in any way he could. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step father (who raised him) Vernon East.Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Moers of Wharton, daughter, Elaine H. Moers of Wharton, and sons Eric A. Moers and wife, Shawnessee of College Station, and Edward Reed Moers of Wharton, mother, Johanna East, siblings, Cheryl LaVergne of Wharton, Julie Moers Steiner and husband, Randall of Wharton, Gregory Jay East and husband, Ana of Kingwood and Brian Michael East and wife, Heather of Beaumont, and his grandchildren, Addison and Charlotte Moers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, starting at 1 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2pm at Wharton Funeral Home.
