Stephen Joseph Bosch, Jr.

Stephen Joseph Bosch, Jr., 77, of Burr, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at a Wharton care facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born in East Bernard on December 11, 1948, to the late Stephen Bosch and Antonia Feduch Bosch.

Steve was raised in the East Bernard area and attended Lamar Consolidated schools before graduating from East Bernard High School in 1967. He served our country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam war. Upon earning his discharge and returning home, he married Dorothy Hundl on July 24, 1971, in Wharton. Dorothy preceded him in death on November 1, 2025. Steve enjoyed serving his customers while working with Miori Svatek for many years. Later, he worked for Svatek Distributing and sold cars in El Campo, before retiring from South Texas Medical Center. He enjoyed working and tending his cattle, playing the penny slots, watching the Astros, Texans and Grit TV, spending time with Dorothy and visiting with the Breakfast Club. Steven was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Lawrence Hundl, Syl Slansky and Dennis Svatek.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Brenda Woytek and husband, Keith of Wharton, son, Michael Bosch and wife, Jaime of Wharton, grandchildren, Amber Vincek and husband, Joshua, Colby Bosch and wife, Becka, Emily Dippel and husband Jonathan and Gracie Phillips and husband, Sean and great granddaughter, Dottie Ann, sisters Mary Slansky, Theresa Hundl, Joyce Svatek and many friends and extended family including his Army buddy from North Carolina, Charles Morrison and his wife, Carolyn.

Visitation will be after 8:30 am Friday, July 31 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rosary recited at 9:30 am and the Funeral Mass set to begin at 10am. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Colby Bosch, Joshua Vincek, Jonathan Dippel, Sean Phillips, Brian Slansky and Gary Dolejsi. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Bush, Melvin Buenger, Timmy Hobbs and Ed Marik.
