Spencer Lofland

Spencer Gerald Lofland, age 88, of Wharton, Texas passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at Reliable Oaks, Needville, TX. He was born on July 8, 1938, in San Juan, Tx to the late Quinton and Elizabeth Spencer Lofland.

Spencers’ family moved often, finally settling in Miami Florida where he graduated from Miami Technical High School in 1957. He joined the military the same year and served our country proudly in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharge in 1961. The next year, in 1962, he married the love of his life, Jessie Lea Morrow, in Brady Tx. He was a long-time HVAC engineer who earned two patents for developing processes still used in the field today. In his free time, he stayed busy, always tinkering and perfecting whatever he came across. A devout member of the Church of Christ, he was preceded in death by his daughter Anita Dawn Hochdorf as well as his parents.

Spencer is survived by his wife, Jessie Lea Morrow Lofland, daughters, Penny LeAnne Medders and husband, Steven, Paula Grace with Roy Stephens, Jr. and Mary Jane Earp and husband, Russell, son, Jay Quinton Lofland and wife, Darlina (Lingo) Lofland, sister, Leana Marie Wilkison and husband, Roy Allen, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, after 9:30 with funeral services slated for 10:30 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in El Campo. Pallbearers will be Jay Lofland, Estevan Aguirre, Steven Medders, Steve Watkins, David Mainard, and Russell Earp with honorary pallbearers Roy Wilkison and sons Nathanal and Kenneth, Wallace Watkins, Billly (William) Spencer and Jesse A Morrow.
