Shirley Ann Williamson

Shirley Ann Williamson, 86, of Wharton passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023. She was born on August 13, 1937, to the late Ben and Nona Frankum. Shirley was born in Galveston, TX and moved to Wharton with her family. She met and married Ray Williamson on July3, 1955. They were married for 68 years. They had three children, Raybert Williamson, Jr., Debbie Quarles and Jeff Williamson. Shirley and Ray worked at Sansing’s Super Market which evolved into BJ’s Minimart many years later. Shirley loved working at their store and talking with everyone that walked through the door. She loved her customers and never met a baby she didn’t hold and kiss on. Many of the kiddos wanted to go see Ms. Shirley to get a hug and a sucker. Ray and Shirley retired in 2019. Shirley loved having her family together at their house where big meals were cooked up by her. Sundays were family days filled with food and football. Shirley and Ray were avid bowlers and loved going dancing with friends and her parents. She also loved going fishing and boating with her husband and family. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Williamson, sons, Ray Williamson, Jr., and Jeff Williamson, sister, Margaret Williamson and Betty Cicherski. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Debbie Quarles and husband, Bob, grandchildren, Brandon Quarles and wife, Amber, Angela Winkenwerder and husband, Brandon, Brady Quarles and wife, Lauren, Destiny Williamson and Raybert Williamson, III. She has nine great grandchildren, Hailey Quarles, Jastin Arbing, Kaileen Arbing, Lyrin Quarles, Presley Quarles, Riley Anne Quarles, Emma Quarles, Aiden Winkenwerder, and Reid Winkenwerder. She has one great great grandson, Luke Rowland. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with a Memorial service to follow on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home.
