It is with both sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Servando Gutierrez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Servando, 79, departed this world on May 25, 2025, in Van Vleck, Texas. Born on May 8, 1946, in Nada, Texas, to the late Arturo and Maria Gutierrez.

Servando was a true Texan at heart. He was as a mechanic at John Deere, where his hands were as skilled as his heart was big. Known as a jack of all trades, Servando could fix just about anything, whether it was a stubborn engine or a lingering problem at home. His deep sense of humor and infectious laugh lightened the hearts of all who knew him. Servando had a passion for life that was evident in his love for family, especially his grandchildren—David, Camille, and Bianca—who brought him immeasurable joy. He found solace in mowing the yard, a simple pleasure that allowed him to revel in the outdoors and take pride in his home. For many years, he and his wonderful wife, Teresa Gutierrez, shared countless Thursday nights and mornings in their beloved bowling leagues in El Campo and Bay City. These moments were filled with camaraderie, competition, and the supportive friendship of fellow bowlers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2008 by his son, Jayme Gutierrez; his siblings, Celia Almaquer, Simon Alameda, Sabina Gutierrez, Isabel Ibarra, Celestino Gutierrez and Severiano Gutierrez.Servando is survived by his devoted spouse of 55 years, Teresa Gutierrez of Wharton; his son, Javier Gutierrez, and wife, Sheri of Van Vleck; and his treasured grandchildren; David, Camille and Bianca Gutierrez; siblings, Sara Sanchez, Senaida Herrera, Lupe Gonzales, Juanita Vallejo, and Seferino Gutierrez. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 30, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Following cremation and private family burial will take place later.
