Rudolfo “Rudy” Villarreal
Rudy Villarreal, 75, of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at a Wharton hospital. He was born on May 29, 1950, in Wharton to the late, Manuel and Trinidad Torres Villarreal.
Rudy was raised in the Wharton area and attended school locally. He enjoyed gardening and visiting with others and he shared a deeply loving and playful bond with his nephews, always filling their time together with laughter, affection, and treasured memories. Rudy was a fan of all Houston sports teams and cherished time spent with his family. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elena Triveno and nephews Steven Trevino, Adam Trevino and Troy Villarreal.
Rudy is survived by his sisters, Tillie Jimenez of Houston, and Gloria Jarvela of Wharton, brothers, Manuel Villarreal and wife, Isabel, Israel Villarreal and wife Virginia and Johnny Villarreal and wife, Silvia all of Wharton, nephews, Manny Villarreal, Gabriel Villarreal, Jason Villarreal, Chris Villarreal, Timmy Villarreal, Michael Jimenez, Brian Butler, Marshall Butler, Charles Butler, Robert (Anthony) Jarvela, nieces, Monica Benevides, Sonia Diaz, Christina Gonzales, Yvonne Davilla, Lori Carreon, Melissa Villarreal and Michelle Cox.
Visitation will be held after 5 pm Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Wharton Funeral Home with rosary recited at 7:00 pm and the Funeral Service and Rite of Committal at 10 am, Thursday, January 22 with Deacon Jose Ugarte, III officiating at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St Mary Cemetery in Nada. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Villarreal, Chris Villarreal, Gabriel Villarreal, Brian Butler, Marshall Butler, and Anthony Jarvela with honorary pallbearers, Troy Villarreal, Adam Trevino and Steven Trevino.
