Roslyn Helen Reese Sliva-Senf, a tiny and beautiful lady with a big heart, gained her little angel wings on Monday evening, June 8, 2026 at home with her loving husband Richard by her side. Roz was a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on so many lives. Her unwavering resilience and kindness earned her immense respect, and her infectious laughter could captivate an entire room. Roslyn brought much joy and love to so many. Her legacy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Roslyn was born just a few short minutes before her twin brother Russell Reese III to Russell Herbert Reese, Jr. and Ruth Tommie Waddel Reese in Eagle Lake, Texas where she was raised and attended school. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Tony Sliva, sisters Barbara Jean Rhoades and Tommie Lou Herman, brother-in-law Tom Gallier, father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Elizabeth Senf, brother-in-law Robert V. Senf, Jr., and sister-in-law Bobette Senf Barten.
She is survived by her husband Richard Senf and Rascal the dog, sister Mary Ann Gallier, brother Russell Reese III and wife Chris, in addition to many nephews and nieces she loved dearly. She is also survived by her new family which she always claimed as her very own: son Rick Senf, daughter Kimberly Senf Durden and husband Josh, son Robert Senf and wife Kristina, grandson Landon Lamascus and wife Katie, granddaughter Lauren Lamascus and fiance Ashton, and granddaughters Karli Senf and Kinsley Senf, as well as Richard's loving sisters Billie Clendennen, Elaine Rolf, Jackie Hodge and Jeri Simons.
Roslyn grew up a true Texas country girl and a tomboy who preferred to be out in the shop watching and helping her dad make things. Throughout her life, if she didn't know how to do something, she "figured it out" on her on. The love of crafting carried on into her adult life and she was often found out in the garage making holiday yard signs for others. She was full of so many amazing talents.
While attending Eagle Lake High School, Roz was a very popular student. One-act plays were one of her favorite activities. She was a cheerleader as well as the Homecoming Queen for the1965-66 Eagles. She always laughingly claimed to be the smallest cheerleader with the loudest voice.
After high school, Roz attended Massey Business College and soon after began a long career in the banking world. As a bank executive secretary to Mr. Michael Wooten, also president of the local Wharton County Ducks Unlimited, she was asked by him to become the secretary/treasurer for that chapter. She accepted the challenge and enjoyed it for over 30 years.
Roslyn loved board games, especially jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, dominos and anything challenging. She also loved to sew and knit, and took much pleasure in teaching her grandchildren. Roz would often donate her knitted stuffed animals to sell at various hospital charity fundraising events. She was always a very kind and giving person.
Loving the outdoors, Roz enjoyed little animals, and always wanted one of the small fuzzy miniature cows. She also loved bird watching and could name almost every bird in the sky or duck on the pond. She could even tell you what kind of catfish was on your line. This always impressed grandson Landon. Much of this love for nature can be attributed to the influence of her game warden grandfather Tom Waddell.
In 2008 Roslyn met her future husband Richard Senf and their love for each was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. Together they enjoyed many happy moments with friends and family. Always laughing and never forgetting to tell each other every day how much they loved one another. Favorite pastimes included watching old movies, traveling, fishing, and horse races, among others. They loved going to dances with all of their many wonderful friends, and participating in car shows in their classic 1968 Roadrunner. They would often go to Mach's Restaurant in Boling with friends to eat, talk and laugh for hours. Attending grandchildren's sports events and school plays was always on the top of Roz's list. She enjoyed them tremendously and was always so proud of each one of them. Many hours were also spent in the car line waiting to pick up grandkids after school, but to Roz every second was so worth the wait. She loved her time with her 'babies'.
Everyone that knew Roslyn remembers her for her spirit, her wit, honesty and her beautiful soul. She was one who never saw the bad in anyone - only the good. Roz loved and was loved by so many.
A celebration of life for Roslyn will be held on June 20, 2026, 10 a.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas, followed by a luncheon at the Wharton Knights of Columbus Hall.
