With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch Rosa Emilia Pesch. She passed away peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2025, at 90 years old, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 8, 1934, in Harlingen, Texas, A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived a life rich in family, faith, embodying the spirit of resilience and joy. A woman of simple pleasures, Rosa found joy in everyday moments. She delighted in playing bingo, visiting Coushatta Casino, and embarking on bus trips that filled her heart with adventure. Her vibrant spirit was evident in her love for traveling, especially to the Valley, where she felt a deep connection to her devoted faith, often attending healing masses at Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle.
Her strength in times of adversity inspired us all, showing us how to face life challenges with grace and determination. She was strong, independent and called herself a “tough cookie” with a quirky & witty personality. She was a true inspiration. Her heart was a home for many, and her legacy lives on in the love she imparted to her family & friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Garcia, Mamie Nunez, Gloria Sanchez and Eva Sanchez, siblings, Susie Alvarado, Teresa Flores, Connie Cardenas, Angie Valdez, Lala Rios, Mauro Pena, and Martin Pena. Along with 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, father of her children, Johnny Sanchez, Sr. (d. 1966) and Ernest John Pesch, Jr (d. 2007) her sons, Johnny Sanchez Jr., and Danny Sanchez; siblings, Pete Pena, Candelario Pena, Dominga Galindo, Patricio Pena, Consuelo Pena.Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, starting at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 pm at the Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday April 28, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Father Antonio Perez officiating. A Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton, Texas. Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com.
She is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and resting in the arms of her creator. She will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts
