Ricky Duran, age 67, of Wharton, Texas passed away suddenly on February 25, 2026. He was born on September 24, 1958, in Wharton, Texas to the late Pete and Patricia Nunez Duran.
Ricky was raised in Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School with the class of 1976. He later attended college in Dallas. Ricky worked as an engineer for Oxica Chemical for many years. He married Rebecca Limas on July 25, 2020, in Wharton. Ricky loved sports, coaching many years of little league and watching his Astros and Cowboys games. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lupe Duran and Andrea Duran and brother Pete Duran.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Limas of Wharton, daughter, Christina Lauren Duran and husband, Jacob Gaona of Wharton, Candace Limas and husband, Roland Gonzalez of Wharton, sons, Christopher Limas of Wharton, David Horta and wife, Tara of Baytown and Aaron Horta of Wharton, sister, Olga Duran of Wharton, nieces, Dana Duran Stetten and husband, Roscoe and their children, Leigh and Sebastian and Susan Duran Jones, grandchildren, Olivia Gaona, Christian Gaona, Ryan Guzman, Caleigh Limas, Kompton Gonzalez, Caleb Horta, Brayden Nelson, Lincoln Horta, Aaliyah Horta, Aalania Horta and Aaron Robert Horta, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Wharton Funeral Home starting at 5 pm. Rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass and rite of committal will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10 am at Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Guzman, Christopher Limas, David Horta, Aaron Horta, Roy Mendiola, Roland Gonzalez & Komtpon Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers are the Vipers Baseball Team.
