Patsy Welch Rawlinson

July 11, 1937 – February 13, 2024

Patsy Welch Rawlinson, age 86, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on February 13, 2024 in El Campo, Texas. Patsy was born on July 11, 1937 in Sulfur Bluff, Texas to Mabel Williams and Paul Herman Welch.

She married the love of her life W.T. “Dub” Rawlinson on April 4, 1953 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. They continued their life in the Glen Flora, Texas area as a ranching and later business owner family where they raised their three children. Dub went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2004.

Patsy ran the family-owned business Glen Flora Grocery for twenty-eight years. Being a talented seamstress from early on, she made many memorable creations for the Wharton County Youth Fair-Rodeo Queens. She also filled the shoes of being the amazing Cowboy Camp cook. Everyone really enjoyed her special recipe for pinto beans and hush puppies. One of the strangest recipes to most would have been the cantaloupe with gravy, which is the only way the children knew how to eat it. After becoming a grandmother, she became Mee Mee to all. Her love for traveling made many special memories. She and Dub traveled to many horse sales around the States. It was nothing for her to load up and take off to her sister Peggy’s for a good visit. Driving to the casino and down to the water just to take a look and relax were some of her favorites. Exploring her passion for the Lord, she was able to take a trip of a lifetime, as she would say, to the Holy Land. Mee Mee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, always on the edge of her seat ready to go anywhere. She enjoyed reading her bible, puzzles, working cattle, hunting, fishing, and a domino game here and there.

Patsy (Mee Mee) is survived by her daughter Paula Winter and husband Jason of Brazoria, sons, Ronny Rawlinson and wife Pat of Glen Flora, Ricky Rawlinson and wife Joan of El Campo, and sister Peggy Biggs of Comanche, along with eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and was just shy of becoming a great-great grandmother.

Pasty was preceded in death by her husband W.T. Rawlinson, mother Mabel Williams, and father, Paul Welch.
