Patsy Samora Pena

Patsy Samora Pena, 70 of Wharton went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. She was born in El Campo, Texas on April 1, 1949 to the late Ramon and Luisa Longoria Samora.

Patsy was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School. She married Roy Pena on January 16, 1982 in Wharton. Patsy enjoyed being a stay at home mother with her children and later worked as a caregiver. She enjoyed fishing trips with her husband, trips to the casino, and preparing home cooked meals for her family, but nothing was more important to her than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.  Patsy was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. In  addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Crystal Pena, sister, Erminda Cordero and brothers, Johnny Samora, Sr., and Gregory Samora.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Roy Pena Sr. of Wharton, daughter, April Pena and husband, Dylan Mason of Wharton and son Roy Pena Jr. and fiancée, Laura Samora of Wharton, sisters Isabell Cordero of Deer Park, Lupe Samora Sedillo and husband, Manuel Sedillo Sr. of Wharton, Mary Louise Garza Balles and husband, Ruben Balles Sr. of Wharton, sister-in-law, Elma Samora of Wharton, brother in law, Adolph Cordero Sr. of Wharton and her precious grandchildren, Damian Pena, Dadrian Jasso, Dacameron Jasso, Sariah Jasso, Drayden Mason, and her great-granddaughter, Talia Pena.

      Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 after 5pm at Wharton Funeral Home with a parish rosary recited at 7pm. The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Fr. Antonia Perez celebrating mass. The burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Samora Jr., Victor Samora, Arturo Garza Jr., Damian Pena, Valentin Garza Sr., and Valentin Garza Jr. Services are under the direction of Wharton funeral Home.
