Nancy Ann “Buenger” Pierce, age 78, of Wharton went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on August 2, 2024, at a hospital in Wharton, TX with her sons at her bedside. She was born on April 7, 1946, in Wharton the daughter of the late Lee Roy Edmond Buenger and Marcellena Katherine “Giesie” Buenger. She was Catholic by faith.

Mrs. Pierce was a resident of Wharton all her life, except from 1966-1969, when she lived in Glasgow, Montana with her husband who was serving in the U. S. Air Force.

Mrs. Pierce graduated from Wharton High School in 1964 and then graduated from W.C.J.C in 1966 with an associate of Arts Degree. While at WCJC she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Mrs. Pierce married Williams Wayne Pierce from Sweeney, Tx on November 19, 1966, in Wharton. They immediately went to Montana until 1969, when Mrs. Pierce came home with her first-born son, Kevin, while William finished his term of service in South Dakota until February 1970.

Mrs. Piece was employed at Caney Valley Hospital in Medical Records from 1969 to 1971. Following the birth of her second son, Gregory, she stayed at home until 1973 when she was employed at Gulf Coast Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist. She worked there until 1981, when she accepted a position at Outlar & Blair Clinic. This position evolved into a merger of Outlar & Blair U Rugeby & Blasingame Clinics into the new S.T.M.C., which opened in 1986. She worked until April 7, 2006, when she retired after 35 years of typing medical records.

Survivors include her sons, Kevin Wayne Pierce and wife, Tina of Wharton, Gregory Steven Pierce and wife, Vanessa of Fulshear; sister-in-law Linda Buenger of Wharton and brother, Ernest Giesie of Wharton; brother in laws, Perry Dennis Pierce and wife, Miriam of Costa Rica; Randall Keith Pierce and wife, Charlene of Sweeney, and Michael Jay Pierce and wife, Toinette of Sweeney; granddaughters, Morgan Ashleigh Pierce, Keira Marie Pierce and Kyndahl Hope Pierce of Wharton; grandson Larson Wayne Pierce of Fulshear. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William “Bill” Pierce in 2003, her brother Roy James “Butch” Buenger, Leo Giesie, and in laws Arthur and Rena Pierce.

Mrs. Pierce as a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 25 years. She held all the offices in this group over the years. Also, she loved reading, watching old movies, baking and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren. She had several hobbies which included needlepoint, crocheting, sewing for her granddaughters, making jewelry and doing crafts and working in her yard.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, starting at 5 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Charles Dwomoh officiating. A Rite of Burial and Committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are nephews: Michael “Chase” Pierce, Cory Jay Pierce, Michael “Shane” Pierce, Logan Giesie, Paul Hartman and Gregor Charles Pierce; great nephew: Chandler Pierce; and close friend Scott Kocian. Honorary Pallbearers are all her grandchildren, Nieces, nephews and close friends and neighbors, especially George and Bernice Kocian, Jackie Hodge and Mary Erdelt.
