Mary Moreno

Mary Moreno, 90, of Rosenberg, passed away at her daughters home in Bay City surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 3, 2020.  She was born on September 13, 1929 in Cuero, Texas to the late Jesus Sanchez and Ysabel Ramirez Sanchez.

Mary was raised in the El Campo area. She married Delfino Moreno, Sr on September 28, 1949 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1997.  She was a humble Christian woman. She would spend countless hours collecting and giving much needed items to the less fortunate.  She attended church regularly.  She was known to her family as an excellent cook and during holidays and family gatherings she would cook up a feast.  In her early years, she enjoyed picking cotton, but was a fulltime housewife and mother most of her life. She loved her plants and flowers and her house always looked like a nursery.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert Sanchez and Alex Sanchez.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Betty Perez and husband Richard of Bay City, Mary Helen Alas and husband, Francisco of Beasley; sons, Delfino Moreno, Jr. and wife, Mary of El Campo, Robert Moreno and Delia of Richmond and David Moreno of Huntsville; sister, Julia Saucedo of El Campo; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 starting at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, Tx with Sister Dolores Perez officiating.
