Maria Gonzales

Maria R. Gonzales, 76, of Wharton passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 6, 2021.  She was born on June 9, 1944 in Wharton, Tx to late Pedro Gonzales and Maria Ramirez Gonzales.

Mary graduated from Boling High School.  She married Candido Gonzales and together they raised 4 children, Debra, Sylvia, Jimmy and Renee.  She worked at Gulf Coast Medical Clinic for many years.  She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed family gatherings the most.  She also liked working crossword puzzles, word searches and dancing.  She was a member of the Guadalupanas of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Candido of Wharton, daughters, Debra Garcia and husband, Tim of Wharton and Sylvia Bustamante and husband, Bobby of Glen Flora; sons, Jimmy Gonzales and wife, Mirna of Houston and Rene Gonzales; her twin brother, Joe Gonzales; brothers Luciano Gonzales and Pedro Gonzales, Jr.; grandchildren, Tim and Ashley Garcia, Robert, Sean and Keith Bustamante, Jimmy Jr., Kobi, Christian, Genesis and Ezekiel Gonzales; great grandchildren Aubrey, Aaden, Sophia, Leilani, Lilliana, Jaylon, Laylah, Sean Jr. and Sophia.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 starting at 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.  A rite of burial and committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Robert Bustamante, Sean Bustamante, Kobi Gonzales, Christian Gonzales, Keith Bustamante and Tim Garcia.
