 Mary Garza, age 88, of Wharton, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at a local nursing center. She was born on March 30, 1936, in Wharton, Texas to the late Pablo and Francisca Fonseca Jaquez.

 Mary was raised in Wharton. She worked as a nurse aide at Wharton Nursing and Rehab, providing excellent care to those in need. Mary was a very loving and attentive person, even volunteering after she retired at the nursing home to help the residents eat meals. She loved her family, and the Houston Astros. Mary spent her life in Wharton and loved it here. She worshiped at Primera Bautitsa Iglesia for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Sara Rangel, Lydia Gonzales, Antonia Ballejo, Esther Castillo, Josie Martinovic, Santos Jaquez, Ascencion Jaquez, Cristobal Jaquez, Natividad Jaquez, Ignacio Jaquez and Tanis Jaquez.

 She is survived by her sister, Anita Ramirez and many nieces and nephews.

 Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 9 am at Wharton Funeral Home. The Funeral Services will begin at 10 am. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
