Marjorie Jurek

March 25, 1942 — September 2, 2023

Marjorie Tracy Orsak Jurek, 81, was born on March 25, 1942 in Sealy, Texas to the late Adolph and Theresa Mikel Orsak. Marjorie graduated from East Bernard High School in 1961.She met the love of her life, Mel-Roy Jurek, at the skating rink in Wallis, Texas and they wed on November 19, 1961. They enjoyed life together for 54 years and were blessed with 3 wonderful children. 

As a family, they enjoyed trips to Matagorda for fishing and eating Marjorie’s amazing homemade fried chicken. They enjoyed playing bingo, watching sports, playing dominos, working around their home in the garden and flower beds. Marjorie had a love for cooking and enjoyed being in the kitchen. Some of her family’s favorites were fried chicken, pork chops, vegetables from their garden and corn fritters. 

In her later years, Marjorie liked to challenge herself piecing together puzzles and completing word searches. She loved spending time with her son in law, Roger watching their “Westerns” and game shows. Marjorie also enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren playing games and watching cartoons. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Mel-Roy Jurek, son Randy Jurek, sisters Florence Jasek and Mary Prokop and great granddaughter Alyssa Gonzalez. 

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Albina Jasek; her son, Wayne Jurek; daughter Theresa West Spillers and husband, Roger. Grandchildren; Scotty West and Tara, Sean West and Graciela, Shain West and wife, Rebecca, Amanda Jurek and Paul, Ashley Gonzalez. Great Grandchildren; Brooke West, Levi West, Blayne West, Jayden Maldonado, Avery Gonzalez, Slate West, Trevor Gonzalez, Jase Maldonado, Jaxon Maldonado, Aubrey Gonzalez and Liam West. 

Marjorie T. Jurek, “Little Grandma” gained her angel wings on September 2, 2023. 

There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas. Pastor Harry Brisco will lead a Celebration of Life at 9:30 a.m. followed by a reciting of the rosary.
