Mario Sanchez, 67, of Wharton, passed away suddenly on December 31, 2023 in a Houston hospital. Mario was born to Vincente and Anita Hernandez in Wharton Texas.

Mario was raised in Wharton and attended Wharton schools. He later served our country honorably in the United States Army. Earning his Discharge in 1975. He worked odd jobs as a construction laborer, painting, and doing construction work. Mario loved to fish, make BBQ, and spend time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing bass guitar in the Texas Armadillo Band in his younger days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Theresa Sanchez, Mary Hernandez, Genevive Ortiz, Olga Sanchez, Richard Sanchez, Henry Sanchez, Vicente Sanchez, Jr., and Raymaldo Sanchez and his grandson Max Sanchez, Jr.

Mario is survived by his partner, Mary Jane Tinkham; daughters, Karen Sanchez of El Campo, Amanda D. Sanchez of Markem; sons, Maximillion Sanchez of Wharton, Marquez Sanchez of Rosenberg, and Matthew Sanchez of Wharton; sisters, Ana Linda Arrambide and husband, Andrew, and Aurora Sanchez; brothers Robert Sanchez, Remedio Sanchez, Lupe Sanchez, Joe Sanchez and John Sanchez and his grandchildren, Anthony Mendoza, Ashley Mendoza, Alan Mendoza, Toni Mendoza, Kevin Moreno and Holly Sanchez and numerous great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 3 pm at Wharton Funeral Home 515 E. Boling Hwy Wharton TX 77488.
