Manuela Pena

Manuela Pena, of Wharton, Texas, went to her eternal rest Thursday August 20, 2026, at the young age of 87. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by people she dearly loved. She was born on June 17, 1939, in Wharton, Tx to the late Ronaldo and Lena Olibo Salas.

Manuela grew up and attended school in Wharton, Texas and it is where she married the love of her life Octavio Pena on June 14,1986. Manuela worked as a Sitter and Caregiver for elderly patients for many years. Full of life, she enjoyed dancing to Bohemian, Country, and Spanish music. She liked going to garage sales, eating out with her friends, and Bingo. For getaways, her and her husband would go to Corpus Christi or Moody Gardens.

In addition to her parents, Manuela was preceded in death by her siblings, Filimina Salas, Victoria Salas, Julia Salas, Apolonio Salas and Rumaldo Salas, Jr. and her niece Rebeca Salas.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Octavio Pena. Nieces, Gabriela Hurley and husband, Will, Lina Salas and boyfriend, Lupe Moreno, Angelica Juarez and husband, Oscar Garcia, Victoria Salas all from Wharton. Nephew Gabriel Salas and his wife, Mari and their family from Houston. Great nieces Amanda and Selena Schmidt, great nephews Oscar, Jr. and Andres Garcia from Wharton.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, after 9 am with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Catholic Church in Wharton followed by Mass. And Rite of Committal at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately after located at Evergreen Memorial Park
