Mabel Ann Howard

Mabel Howard, 86, of Wharton passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 6, 1939, in Austin County, Texas to the late Hugo and Viola Krancher.

Mabel was raised in Sealy and attended Sealy High School. She married Alvin Louis Howard on her 18th birthday on March 6, 1957, in Rosenberg. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2004. Mabel and Alvin made their home in Wharton, where she enjoyed taking care of animals, gardening, and cooking large meals for the Sunday Family dinner. She loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren and later great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Howard and sisters, Madine Lezak and Velma Perkins.

Mabel is survived by her daughter, Sharon Boedeker and husband, Ronnie of Wharton, grandchildren, Daron Boedeker, Ryan Boedeker, Sonny Howard and Amber Gurecky and her great grandchildren, Caden, Oakley, Beckett, Brenna, Colton, Asher, Zoee, Pax and Philip.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after 10 am with a Celebration of Life at 11am at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will follow Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
