In loving memory of Leonard “Buddy” Charles Koehne, Jr., age 91, of Wharton passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on September 6, 2024 .
Buddy was born in Bonus, Tx on August 29, 1933, to the late Leonard Koehne, Sr. and Margaret Foeh Koehne. He married the love of his life, Mozelle Koehne on March 21,1965 in Wharton, Texas and they enjoyed 48 wonderful years together.
Buddy worked numerous years and retired from Texas Gulf Sulfur, while also finding joy in ranching on the side. Buddy cherished spending time with his family, creating lasting memories with each of them. As an Army veteran, Buddy served his country with pride and was a respected member of the American Legion. In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Koehne; daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Kubala, and Donna Vasek and sister, Gladys Morse. Buddy is survived by his daughter, Denise Palinek of Wharton; son, Tommy Mathews and wife, Kathryn of Blessing, son-in-law Pat Kubala of El Campo . Grandchildren; Scott Cunningham and wife, Donna, Christy Pratka and husband, Brent, Jimmy Vasek and wife, Rebecca, Jennifer Pope and husband, K.C., Joe Palinek and wife, Jocelyn, Jordan Kubala and wife, Kristy, Haley Kubala, Shelly Delgado and husband, Thomas, Wendy Mathews, Beau Mathews and wife, Heather, Clint Mathews and wife, Ashley, Thomas Mathews and wife, Lina; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Along with nieces, nephews and close family friends.
The funeral services and ceremonies to honor Buddy will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. A burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton, TX. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Scott Cunningham, Beau Mathews, Jimmy Vasek, Jordan Kubala, Joe Palinek, and Clint Mathews.
May Leonard “Buddy” Charles Koehne, Jr. rest in peace, knowing his love and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
