Lanier Chumchal

Lanier Chumchal, 87, of Pledger passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, in a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 20, 1936, in Hungerford, Texas to the late B.F. and Annie Mae Brauvinetz Chumchal.
Lanier was raised in the Pledger and New Gulf area. He attended school in New Gulf. Mr. Chumchal served our country proudly in the United States Army. He married Anne Marie Albert in July 1967 in Wharton. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2018. He worked as a farmer and rancher all his life. He and Anne Marie loved going to dances, and out to eat. Never one to take a vacation, Lanier said his most enjoyable moments in life were just watching his cattle peacefully graze. In addition to his parents and wife, Lanier was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred and brothers, Barney and Delton.
Lanier will be missed by his sisters, Leo-Dell Biering, Jeanette Owens and Annette De-Groat and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 after 1 pm with the funeral service at 2 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
