Juan Silva ̈John ̈ "JD ̈ Delgado, 46, a cherished man known for his kind selflessness, passed away unexpectedly, peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, September 13, 2024. Born on June 24, 1978 to John J. and Priscilla Delgado, in Rosenberg, TX. John lived a life filled with generous service to others, a selfless devotion to duty and a passion for life.
John is survived by his wife of 24 years Leticia [Silvas] Delgado of Wharton, TX, his son Garrett John [Morgan Pierce] Delgado of Rosenberg, TX, his parents, John J. and Priscilla A. [Myers] Delgado of Wharton TX, sisters Cynthia [Esmo Gonzalez] Delgado of Pearland, TX, Bernadette [Jose] Zavala of Pearland, TX, Amanda [Johnny] Bragg of Eastland, TX, his mother in law Diana [Alex Beccera] Rodriguez as well as a niece and several nephews whose lives were greatly enriched by Johnś presence. His departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sidney Curtis and Betty Myers, Jesus and Seferina Delgado, his father in law Angel Rodriguez.
John ́s early education began at Boling ISD for several years and continued to Lamar Consolidated High School, Class of 1997 in Rosenberg, Texas. He began playing guitar and sports, flag football and baseball as a child, playing the position of catcher for several years. He loved to fish and hunt and would get out on the water as much as he could. Influenced by FFA, AFJROTC and Junior Firefighter teachings of core values already instilled by his own family, only grew stronger. His school years were marked by his capacity to bring joy to those around him as he loved to laugh and had a contagious smile. In high school he began riding bulls when Lane Frost and the movie 8 seconds became his favorites, showing heifers, welding, and continued playing guitar all while holding down various agricultural jobs. He still rode bulls recently with his son Garrett.
A welder by trade, along with being a volunteer firefighter for many years, his work ethic was as solid and strong as the welding he performed. He volunteered for upwards of 30 years with various fire departments including Boling Fire Department and until his death actively with Wharton Fire Department and was awarded the Fireman of the Year Award in 2019.
A public viewing and rosary will be held at Wharton Funeral Home 515 E. Boling Hwy Wharton, TX on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 5 P.M. rosary at 7 P.M. On Saturday, September 21, 2024 the funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Holy Family Life Center 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, TX with the Deacon Billy, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3511 E. Alabama Road, Wharton, TX.
Pallbearers are Garrett Delgado, Leon Sanchez, Victor Delgado, Tanner Rawlings, Reece Mazel, Oscar Del Bosque. Alternate pallbearers are Emily Mazel, Chad Wrobliski, Sebastian Willson. Honorary pallbearers are John J. Delgado, Johnny Bragg, Jose A. Zavala, Esmo Gonzalez, Noah Zavala, Ruben Zavala, Jaime Zavala, Sonny Gonzalez, Evan Acuna, Philip Cook, Shane Duncan, Christian Duncan, Hector Hernandez and Kevin Bannert
