Joseph Bernard Kubena Jr.
August 25 1960 – August 6, 2025
Joseph Bernard Kubena Jr., age 64, of Wharton, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2025.
Joseph (Jody) was a Devoted son, brother, father, and exceptional grandfather. He was a proud and loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, especially watching all of his grandsons play baseball and listening to his one and only granddaughter tell him stories.
Jody spent his early years helping on local rice farms and ranches before building a career as a machinist, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, Jody found joy in the simple pleasures of life—He enjoyed taking care of his garden and he loved his plants, also loved fishing, taking his boat out on the water, spending time at the beach, and, above all, making memories with his grandchildren. His compassionate heart, love of the outdoors, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Ashley Talasek and husband Chris, his sons Matthew Kubena and wife Brittany, Kyle Kubena and wife Bridget, Sisters Mary Jo Janik, Veronica Barger and husband Jimmy, Suzanne Oates and husband Todd, Brother Kenny Kubena and Wife Sarah and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren Pryce, Knox, Kersh, Nash, Trace, Palmer and Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Joseph Bernard Kubena Sr., and his brother-in-law, Daniel Janik.
A service to honor Jody’s life a Memorial Service will be held at Wharton Funeral Home Saturday August 16th2025 at 11am.
