Joseph William Dusek, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the age of 82. Joe was born in East Bernard, Texas, on October 26, 1943, to the late Joseph Stanley Dusek and Tillie Poessel Dusek.
Joe dedicated his life to farming for over 40 years, He worked alongside his father and his brother and then continued to run the family farm independently until his retirement. He could often be found holding a hand of cards or playing dominoes, sharing his love for friendly competition and family gatherings.Joe was a man of simple pleasures; he relished the thrill of a good hunt, the peacefulness of fishing, and in his later years, a good old-fashioned conversation. His greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren, sharing the wisdom of his years and creating cherished memories that will echo in their hearts. An active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, Joe was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the KJT.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cynthia Dusek of East Bernard; children Dana Hamrick and husband Kelly of Golden; Michael Dusek and wife Dana of East Bernard; Jennifer Coker and husband Clinton of East Bernard, and Mary Masterson and husband Nathaniel of Dallas; grandchildren: Blake Thomas Hamrick and wife Grace, Bradley Joseph Hamrick, Myranda Lee Dusek, Emily Elizabeth Oppermann, Claire Alexandria Coker, Julia Grace Coker, Samuel Prescott Coker, Callie Irene Dusek, and Carly Louise Oppermann; great-grandchildren Wesley Jade Williams and Myles Thomas Hamrick. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit forward in their lives. He is also survived by siblings, JoAnn Demny, Cynthia Beseda and husband Lonnie; Patrick Dusek and wife Carolyn; and Mary Criswell and husband Roger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with the Very Reverend Charles E. Otsiwah officiating. Rite of Committal and Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Blake Hamrick, Bradley Hamrick, Samuel Coker, Nathaniel Masterson, Clinton Coker, Kelly Hamrick, and Jonathan Dusek.
Joe will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and the loving legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
