John Salcido, 70, of Wharton and formerly of East Bernard passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in a Wharton nursing center. He was born on October 13, 1950 in Wharton Texas, a child of the late Cruz and Margarita Alvarado Salcido.

 

John was raised in East Bernard and attended school there. John enjoyed drawing and was a great artist, providing artwork for his numerous nieces and nephews, he loved guns and shooting, and especially loved his train sets, including a large set kept at his sisters’ house. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Angel, Phillip, Pedro, Benito and Lucio Salcido.

 

He is survived by his siblings, Olivia Salcido of East Bernard, Dora Torres of Houston and Eluterio Salcido and wife, Alicia of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation for the public will be held on Friday, November 27 starting at 9 am with a rosary recited at 9:30 and funeral mass at 10:00, all at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Burial will follow in San Francisco Cemetery in East Bernard.
