John Paul was born in Wharton, TX on February 27, 1966, to Johnny Dornak & Darlene Laughlin.  He was a graduate of Wharton High School.   He always enjoyed playing video games for hours, bowling in many leagues and yelling for the Texas Longhorns no matter if they were winning or losing.  He bowled in several leagues and achieved a perfect game of 300.

It was evident his interest for playing the drums began with the beating of spoons on pots & pans at a very young age. John Paul’s passion for music was prevalent as he was a member of numerous bands.  Beginning in high school he started playing with, Roxx, then Explorer, Joel Nava & The Border, The Mixx, Derringer, Second Chance, Grande Mullet, Shacklebone, Let It Ride, Original Triumphs, Bazaar Boys, Shiner Hobo Band, Texas Sound Czech and various other band. Most recently Kist by Grace, in which he began rehearsing for his church family at the Texas Cowboy Church, who accepted John for who he is and welcomed him with open arms. John Paul’s family could not be more appreciative and thankful for his family united under God.
