John Morris Blakeway

John M Blakeway, 74, of Wharton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2022.  He was born in Houston, TX on April 27, 1947 to the late Stephen and Betty Jean McKeown Blakeway.

John was raised in the Houston and Lufkin area and worked as a carpenter most of his life. On   May 14, 1964 he married Patricia Berger in Lufkin. John enjoyed hunting and saltwater fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Blakeway, Jr.

John, is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Patricia Blakeway, children, Ronny Blakeway, Clint Blakeway and Sandra Bufkin and numerous friends.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2022.  Funeral Mass and rite of Committal will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
