Joe "Pap" Wisnieski, Jr.

Joe “Pap” Wisnieski, Jr. Papa Joe Joe “Pap” Wisnieski, Jr., age 86, of Wharton passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in a Houston hospital following a brief illness of pneumonia and a long battle with Cancer.  He was born on April 5, 1931 in Crescent to the late Joe and Elsie Mildred Sedlock Wisnieski, Sr.   Joe was raised in the Crescent area and graduated from Crescent High School. He worked as a mechanic, truck driver - hauling cattle, dirt, worked for Texaco, he could spread a load of dirt perfectly, and most famously for the City of Wharton as the Street Sweeper. He married Lillian Cervenka in Wharton. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being at his deer camp in Oakland and going to Turkey Shoots. He was known as the jokester of the family and never met a stranger. When he and Lillian were younger, they enjoyed going to dances. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Gary Smith and Tommy Stewart, siblings, Leona Gaylor, Linda Hept, and George Wisnieski.   Joe is survived by his wife, Lillian Wisnieski of Wharton, daughters, Jane Stewart of Columbus, Dale Smith of West Columbia, and Doris Dornak and husband, Keith of Wharton, sisters, Gloria Pavlas and husband, Julius of Wharton, Betty Bartos and husband Jerome of Lake Jackson, brothers, Ronnie Wisnieski and wife, Debbie of Wharton and Leo Wisnieski and wife, Bobbie of Wharton, brother-in-law, Tom Hept of Wharton, grandchildren, Kimberly Rolf, Kelly Stewart, Kacey Stewart, Kristy Dieringer, Clayton Stewart, Russell Stewart and Krystal Baca. He has 13 great grandchildren that he loved and made him smile when they came to visit.   Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 3 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev.
