Joe Espinosa, 68, of Victoria and formerly of Glen Flora died in a Victoria hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2021 following brief illness. He was born on August 27, 1952 in Wharton, Tx to the late Petronilo Espinosa and Eloisa Yanez Espinosa.
Joe graduated from Crescent High School. He worked as a carpenter for most of his adult life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially spoiling and loving those grandkids. He like watching movies with his family. He loved his Oakland Raiders, wrestling, and playing softball.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Espinosa of Victoria; daughters, Genovea Hernandez of El Campo, Olga Nunez and husband, Stephen of Australia, Sylvia Haggerty, Maria Givens and husband, Charles of Danevang, Rachael Alonso and husband, Omar of Wharton, Elizabeth Espinosa and fiancée Jaime Chavarin of California; sons, Mark Espinosa and wife, Marissa of Victoria, Joe Govea and wife, Charlene of Edinburg, Luis Govea and wife, Corrina of Farr, Adrian Espinosa and stepchildren, Janie A. Freed and husband, Jason of Killeen and Anthony Herrera of Wharton, Jonathan Herrera of Wharton and Susanna Rodriguez and husband Richard of Wharton; brother, Eli and his wife Mary Espinosa of Columbus; 41 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margarita, his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 starting from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearer will be Mark Espinosa, Adrian Espinosa, Blake Espinosa, Jason Freed, Tony Rosiles, and Omar Alonso. Honorary pallbearer is his brother, Eli Espinosa.
