JoAnn (Hickey) Reina

On September 26, 2026, at the age of 91, JoAnn Hickey Reina went home to be with the Lord Jesus. JoAnn was born in Corsicana, Texas on July 7, 1935, to Leslie Lynn Hickey and Lillian Marie Allmon-Hickey.

On June 16, 1956, JoAnn married the love of her life, Frank Paul Reina Sr. They grew up in Houston, Texas and later moved to Boling, Texas in the late 1970’s with their 3 children, Bambi Lynn Reina-Ramsey, Frank Paul Reina Jr., and Anthony (Tony) Lee Reina III. For 70 years of her life, she was the most loving, caring, and supportive wife to her husband, Frank Reina.

JoAnn’s unconditional love was evident in every aspect of her life. She always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. To be loved and welcomed by JoAnn was something special, but to her, it was simply who she was. She was our biggest cheerleader, our constant, and the heartbeat of our family. The one who always showed up, brought everyone together, and made sure you knew how deeply loved you were. She helped raise and guide so many in her lifetime as she was affectionately called “Mama Red”, “Sarge”, “AJ” and most importantly “GawGaw” to those closest to her.

At the center of JoAnn’s life was her unwavering faith in Jesus. It was a faith she lived out each day through the way she loved and cared for those around her. She passed that faith on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; leaving them with a foundation that will continue to guide and strengthen her family for generations to come. She was a true matriarch of our family.

She leaves behind a family who will miss her beyond measure, including her beloved husband Frank Paul Reina; her children Bambi Lynn Reina-Ramsey & spouse, Coy Ramsey, Frank Paul Reina Jr. & spouse, Simone Reina, and Tony Reina & spouse Kelly Reina.

JoAnn’s family will be forever grateful to Maria Gonzalez, Judith Umeh, and Gracie Cortez Herrerra who lovingly cared for her during the last few years of her life. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Lynn Hickey and Lillian Marie Hickey, and her siblings, Donald Lynn Hickey and Geline Hickey-Webb.
