Jesse “Jr” Vega, 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Jesse was born the second youngest of seven children to Jesse and Ignacia Vega on April 23, 1957, in Bay City, Texas. Jesse grew up in Bay City, Texas and graduated from Bay City High School in 1976. He married Cynthia Garza in 1979 and settled down in Wharton, Texas. They welcomed their first child Candace in 1982 and then their son Brian in 1986. Jesse worked for the Valero cooperation for many years while his children were young and growing up and later transitioned to working for Enterprise Rent a Car. Jesse always worked hard to make sure that his family and children were taken care of. Jesse wore many titles, son, brother, dad, grandfather “Pops” and friend. Jesse had a passion for football and sports. He loved going to Tejano dances, listening to music, going to concerts, fishing, cooking Bar-b-que with his son, and most of all he loved spending time with his four grandchildren Elena, Sebastian, Evelyn, and Elyse. Jesse went to every game his son coached and was so very proud of Brian, he also went to every possible game his grandchildren played in. His grandchildren were his everything and they loved going to church on Sundays, going to lunch dates to Cuevas and 9er’s, and Dairy Queen for ice cream with their Pops. Jesse is preceded in death by his mom Ignacia, dad Jesse, his sisters Susie and Betty. He is survived by his children Candace Cardoza (Juan Cardoza), Brian Vega (Sandra Vega), his grandchildren Elena, Sebastian, Evelyn, and Elyse, his sisters, Anna Garcia (Jesse), Hopie Cisneros (Fidencio), Catherine Hernandez, and Alice Stanford and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at First Baptist at 507 N. Fulton st. Wharton Tx. 77488 at 10am and the service at 11am with a graveside following at Evergreen Memorial Park Pall Bearers: Brian Vega, Jesse Garcia, Frankie Garcia, Fidencio Cisneros Sr., Fidencio Cisneros Jr., Rudy Luna Jr. Honorary Pall Bearers: Sebastian Cardoza, Juan Cardoza, and Courtney Taylor
