Herbert Theodore Kucera

Herbert Kucera, 88, of Wharton, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his residence. He was born on January 13, 1937, in Louise, Texas to the late Josef Pete and Stefina “Stella” Sliva Kucera.

Herbert was raised in Louise and attended Louise schools. He married Lillie Mae Krause on April 9, 1969. He was a farmer all his life, he was also a professional welder. He loved to work, never slowing down. He also enjoyed fishing, BBQing, building things he needed and just having fun. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Herman, Richard, Bill and Joe Kucera, sisters, Gladys Cerny, Frances Wessels and Mildred Stavinoha and his best fur friend- Gus.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillie Mae Kucera, daughter, Stacy Kucera and partner, Susan Edwards, brother, Tony Kucera, Sr. and wife Linda, sisters, Helen Konvicka and Georgia Kaspar and sister-in-law Carline Krause Kucera and one cantankerous cat- Kitty, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held after 9 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 9:30 am, Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Fr. Sam Appasi celebrating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Kucera, Ryan Jones, John Turner, Tim Stavinoha, Tony Kucera Jr., Craig Kucera, and Eric Kucera.
