On July 24, 2024, Hazel Evvalee Anderson Prazak loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 90 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Hazel was born on March 3, 1934 in Iago, Texas to Elmer and Velma Anderson. On September 18, 1950, she married Willie Prazak Jr in El Campo, TX. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Prazak Jr, her parents, five brothers, two sisters, and her niece, Alice Anderson who she raised. 

 

She is survived by five children: son- Edwin Prazak and wife Cathy, daughters - Doris Manley and husband Mike, Patricia Chmelik and husband Charlie, Joyce Kubena and husband Jerry, and Barbara Thomas and husband Dwaine. Also 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, Mary Anderson and 1 brother-in-law, Mathew Prazak.

 

Hazel was co-owner of Prazak Water Well and worked at Duke and Ayres. She also taught CCD at the Holy Family Catholic Church. 

 

Hazel enjoyed dancing, sewing, going to church and loved flowers. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She attended many of their games and activities. Her family was the center of her life.

 

Visitation is slated for Monday July 29, 2024 from 5-7PM at the Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 30, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Charles officiating. A Rite of Committal and burial will follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in East Bernard, TX. Serving as pall bearers are her grandsons: Anthony Baca, Chris Chmelik, Chuck Chmelik, Paul Dirba, Stephen Dirba, and Will Pitts.
