Glenn Wayne Cook, 70, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026, following illness.

Wayne was born December 17, 1955, in Wharton, TX. He grew up in Wharton, where he attended Boy Scouts, fished and frogged in Caney Creek, and floundered with his dad in Matagorda. He was the oldest of three children. His father, E. G. Cook, worked at Texasgulf Sulphur Company, while his mother, Mildred Cook Waligura, worked in insurance at Outlar and Blair Clinic and Rudgely and Blasingame Clinic. Wayne attended Wharton schools and graduated in 1975.

As an adult, Wayne enjoyed fishing the Colorado River and the Gulf, visiting and reminiscing with his friends, and traveling as he worked as a truck driver. He traveled the roads of the United States, seeing all the sights. He loved the driving and traveling and often talked about the things he had seen. Off and on, Wayne worked at longtime friend, Danny Moses’, cotton gin. In recent years, Wayne spent time working in Missouri, spending time with family and friends in the Wharton area and driving around town with his best-loved companion, his dog Killer.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, E. G. Cook. He is survived by his mother Mildred Waligura, sister Susan Chumchal and family, and sister Laura Mrazek and family, as well as his beloved chihuahua Killer.

Wayne leaves behind his daughter Christi Taylor, with grandsons Gage Chumchal and Grant Chumchal; son Roy Dwayne Cook with granddaughter Delanie, and son Chris Cook with granddaughter Elizabeth.
