Gabriel Segrest passed into the arms of the Lord on January 16, 2021 at his residence in Wharton. He was born April 16, 1992 in Granbury, TX.
Gabriel was a lifelong resident of East Bernard. He graduated from East Bernard High School in 2010. While he was a student there he excelled at sports, especially football, baseball, track & field and he even set multiple state records in power lifting. After high school, Gabriel followed in his father’s footsteps and attended Texas State University where he graduated with his Bachelors degree. Gabriel owned and managed his family business Big G Auto Glass and Big G Properties in Wharton. He loved to fish and watch sports but what truly made him happy was spending time with his nieces and nephews. The biggest smile he had was when he was with them.
Gabe is survived by his Mother Diane Segrest (nee Vaclavik) of East Bernard, his sister Ginger Wyn Wormell and her husband Michael of Magnolia, TX, his brother Geremy Segrest of Wharton, his nieces Reece Genoff, and Payton Wormell, and his nephews Bryce Korhonen, Landen Wormell, Jackson Dewberry and Brendan Wormell. He is predeceased by his father Gaylan Wade Segrest in 2006, his grandmother Dorothy Segrest in 2014 and lifelong friend Austin Matura in 2015.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday January 21 from 5-7 P.M. and also on Friday January 22nd from 9:30 – 11 A.M. at Wharton Funeral Home 515 E. Boling Hwy, Wharton. Funeral service to begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at East Bernard Methodist Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers are Michael Wormell, Jackson Dewberry, Bryce Korhonen, Tyler Sainz, Justin Breedlove, Jacob Kitzmiller and Patrick Pitts.
Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
