Felix Sopchak

October 7, 1937 — January 23, 2021

Felix Sopchak, 83, of Wharton, Texas,  went to be with his loving wife on Saturday, January 23, 2021, following a sudden illness at a Richmond, Tx. hospital.  Felix was born on October 7, 1937, in Richmond, Texas to the late Stash Sopchak and Anna Storemski Sopchak.

 

Felix attended Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, Tx., and later earned his GED.  He attended classes at San Jacinto Jr. College and Texas A&M University.  He served our country honorably in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 while stationed in Alaska.  He married the love of his life, Linda Michalec Sopchak on October 6, 1962, and she preceded him in his death just 3 days prior. 

 

Felix was employed as a machinist in Houston for 19 years at Seal Parts Co., Marchem Resources & Baroid. Together with Linda, they owned and operated Burr Cafe  for 10 years. He retired, but continue to work part time for Star Parts for 13 years.  He enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting, and fishing,  and also spending time with his family.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he volunteered regularly, and he was also  an Extraordinary Eucharist Minister.  He was a member of American Legion Post 87 in Wharton.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Janicek, Verna Rychlick and Genevieve Sopchak; brothers, Raymond, Paul, Ed, Kie, and Ben Sopchak.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Clayton and husband, David of Wharton,  son Scott Sopchak and wife, Nikki of Granbury; sister, Francis Williams of Hempstead; grandchildren:  Drew Clayton and fiancé Chelsea Solis,  Jessie Swindel and husband Stryker, and Jamie King; great grandchildren: Nash Clayton, Bodhi Clayton, and Emma Swindel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, Tx, on Friday, January 29, 2021, commencing at 9:00 am with a Catholic Daughters rosary at 10:30 am followed by Mass celebrated at 11 am with Father Samuel Appiassi. A Rite of burial and committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 87, 221 W. Park St., Wharton, TX 77488 or the Holy Family Catholic Church at 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, TX  77488.

 

Funeral Services are under the directions of Wharton Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com.
