Evelyn "Eve" Marie South

Eve South, 80, of Cypress, Texas, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born on June 26, 1944, in East Bernard, Texas, to the late Emil and Annie Orsak Hanzelka.

Eve was raised in the East Bernard area and graduated from East Bernard High School. She worked in banking, as vice president of Tradition Bank in Houston over the years. Eve loved her grandchildren, pet rabbits, gardening, doing yardwork, playing tennis, cooking, traveling and watching her Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Kutach.

Eve is survived by her loving daughter, Michele Cernosek of Cypress, Texas and grandchildren, Courtney Cernosek of Cedar Park, Texas and Christian Cernosek of Cypress, Texas and many friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, after 9:00 am with rosary recited at 9:30 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hungerford, Texas. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
