Eva Dale Hlavinka Schroeder

Eva Schroeder, 83, of Wharton, passed on Thursday, June 5, 2025, after a stroke. She was born October 16, 1941, in Duson, LA to the late Elmo and Murmay Landry Melancon.

Eva, raised in Hamshire, Texas, graduated from High School. She played the tuba and was apart of an award-winning marching band, who performed in Washington DC. She later attended Chenier Business School. She married Linhart Hlavinka on May 16, 1960. He preceded her in death April 9, 1983. She later married Charles Schroeder on October 15, 1988. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2024.

Eva was creative and talented. She was a businesswoman and an artist. She had her own business, making wedding cakes and later became a stockbroker and real estate agent. As an artist, she entered her paintings and drawings in many shows, winning rewards. She was a member of several Art Leagues, helping to organize the Pastel Society. Over the years she participated in a photography club, garden club. Eva loved to learn, as her friends at the library can attest. She loved God, her Family and People! She was very outgoing and enjoyed talking and laughing with her friends, daily. Eva was there when her friends were in need and tried to be there for them, helping many along the way.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Clay Hlavinka. Eva is survived by her daughter, LaCricia Hlavinka of Houston, son Carl Hlavinka and wife Millie of Wharton, daughter-in-law Kimberly Hlavinka, her sisters, Beverly Chesson and Nellie Beebe, brother Ronnie Melancon. Her grandchildren are Bryan, Kyle and Marissa Hlavinka, Lance Hlavinka & Kindra (Hlavinka) Rheinschmidt, and Angelique Hlavinka-Maclain; her great grandchildren are James and Layla Hlavinka and Wrenly Rheinschmidt

A Memorial will be held on Monday, June 16th, at 2pm
