With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward Gonzales, age 61, a beloved son, father, and brother. Edward passed away on August 31, 2024, in his home in El Campo, TX, surrounded by love and care of his children and sisters. Born on February 12, 1963, in Bay City, TX, to the late Joe L. Gonzales and Amelia Driscoll Gonzales.
A man of many talents and passions, Edward was known for his dedication to his family, his love for working with cattle, his love of fishing and his exceptional skills as an operations Manager in the oil and gas industry. His prowess in the kitchen, particularly when it came to cooking up delectable Bar-B-Que dishes, brought joy to all who knew him. Family meant everything to Edward, and his legacy of love and devotion will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edward's memory will live on through his children, Derrick Swiler and wife, Hannah of Hockley, Tx, Rebecca Manning and husband, Michael of Buna, TX and Sara Gonzales of Nacogdoches, Tx; siblings, Maria Lopez, Betty Cordoba and husband, Robert, Belinda Gonzales, Joe Charles “JC” Gonzales, Shirley Arriaga and husband, Amadeo, Rachel Reyna and husband, Frank and Joseph Gonzales and wife, Stephanie, and brother-in-law, Louis Marshall. Along with countless nieces and nephews and close family friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Marshall.
A Visitation will be held at Wharton Funeral Home on September 4, 2024, at 5:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church with Father Robert Guerra officiating. A Rite of Burial and committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Derrick Swiler, Caesar Chapa, Frank Reyna, Andrew Reyna, Nazario Paniagua and Michael Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers are Damian Paniagua, Nazario Paniagua, Jr., and Joe Charles Gonzales.
