Edward Garza

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Garza, age 56, of Wharton Texas. Born on February 1, 1968, in El Campo, TX, Edward peacefully left this world on August 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, after a life well-lived.

Edward was raised in Wharton and a graduate of Wharton High School. Having served in the Marines, Edward embodied values of dedication, discipline, and loyalty throughout his life. His commitment to his country and community set an example for many, earning him respect and admiration from all who knew him. He was a hardworking man who found joy and fulfillment in his work as a landscaper. His passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces was evident in every project he touched. A loving father to his daughter Tara Horta, Edward cherished their time together and was immensely proud of the woman she has become.

In addition to his career, Edward enjoyed simple pleasures in life, such as reading, solving puzzles, and sharing a good beer with friends. His love for landscaping extended beyond his profession, as it brought him a sense of peace and contentment. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Edward's enthusiasm for the team never wavered. Edward is preceded by his parents, Adam Garza and Lucy Charles.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Tara J. Garza Horta & husband David of Sealy; grandchildren, Lincoln Horta, Brayden Nelsen and Caleb Horta; nieces and nephews, Neal Garza, Stephanie Battles, Savannah Lowery, Adrian Mendez, Daniel Parades, Elana Luna, Caelia Luna and Ava Luna. Their love and memories of Edward will live on in their hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, starting at 9:00 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Limas officiating. A burial will then follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton, Tx.

 In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Edward's name to a charitable organization supporting veterans.
