Edith Annie Wostarek Evanicky passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026. Edith was born in Colorado County on August 16, 1933, to the late Peter Wostarek and Agnes Gengross Wostarek.

Edith loved working in her garden, puzzles, playing dominoes, and being with her dog, Rubbl. She also enjoyed going to the Astros games, as well as enjoying time with her family at gatherings. She worked as a Medication Aid for Wharton Manor and then at Hearthstone.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Vernon Evanicky; brother, Paul Wostarek, her brother and wife-Lawrence and Clementine Wostarek, her sister and husband-Rosie and Simon Wilde, her sister and husband-Isabel and Merle Blanton, her sister and husband-Angeline and Harold Munch and sister-in-law Charlene Wostarek.

Edith is survived by her children: Lonnie and wife, Susan Evanicky of Wharton, Clarice and husband, Antony Kutach of Wharton, daughter in law ,Julie Evanicky of El Campo, Glen and wife, Christine Evanicky of Wharton, Deborah and husband, Stephen Alexander of Wharton; her grandchildren; Eric Evanicky, Timothy and Veronica Evanicky, Glen Evanicky, Amanda and Brian Kiley, Madison Evanicky, Travis and Bailey Alexander, Jacob and Crevae Alexander, Grace and John McLeroy, Jason and Savana Alexander; and her great grandchildren Joshua, Arrie, Alexis, Jordan, Mackenzie, Dakota, Zane, Orion, Quinn, Case, Tate, Red, Olivia and Evangeline and brother, James Wostarek of La Grange, Texas

Visitation will start at 9:00 am on Friday, January 23, 2026, following with a CDA Rosary at 9:30 am and 10:00 am Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Boling, Texas with Father Samuel Appiasi presiding. The rite of committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wharton. Edith’s six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com.
