Douglas Paul Slovak

Douglas Paul Slovak passed away on August 6, 2024 at his home in El Campo, Texas. Our Lord opened his arms today to welcome Doug home and free him from his long battle and suffering with heart disease. He was born on July 27, 1965 in El Campo to the late Richard and Gloria Shimek Slovak.

Doug loved dogs, especially his PawPack. Doug rescued several stray dogs that had been abandoned. Doug graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, majoring in computer information systems. After working for several companies and traveling the world, he returned home and partnered with his parents in running a successful medical research business for many years in their time of need.

He is survived by his sister, Jennie Gradick and brother-in-law James Gradick of Wills Point, sister Laurie Foster of Louise, nephew Shawn Poncik and Brenda Torres, niece Gabby Jo Foster and Koale Jaks, and his loving Paw Pack, Minnie, Dingo, Cocco and Pepper.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gloria, brother, Rick and grandparents, Adolph and Jennie Shimek and John and Annie Slovak.

Memorial donations in memory of Doug may be made to Wharton County SPOT.
