Dorothy Knesek SulakMay 15, 1936 - June 8, 2026
Dorothy Sulak, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Dorothy was born in Frenstat, Texas, on May 15, 1936, to the late Gus and Carrie Gajdosik Knesek.
Dorothy dedicated her life to being a stay-at-home mother and playing with her husband in various bands. She could often be found in her garden, tending her vegetables and flowers, spoiling her cats, working in the yard, and cleaning house. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and spreading her love of polka music with others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, James and Glenn Sulak, her sisters, Annie Kubelka, Angelina Tschoerner, Margaret Krueger, Lydia Bohacek, Carrie Knesek and Martha Bohacek, brothers, Eddie Knesek, John Knesek, Willie Knesek, Louis Knesek, Gussie Knesek and Earnest Knesek.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Rudy Sulak of East Bernard; son, Alan Sulak and wife, Francene of East Bernard, daughters-in-law, Melinda Sulak of Carrollton, Carol Sulak of Houston and Melinda Sulak of Bay City, grandchildren, Zachariah Sulak and Faith Sulak Leber and great grandchildren, Asher Leber and Miracle Sulak.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 AM. A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Zach Sulak, Andrew Leber, Kenneth Bohacek, Tim Knesek, Asher Leber and Michael Recarte.
Dorothy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, humor, and the loving legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
