Dorothy Lee Reeves

Dorothy Lee Ramsey Reeves passed into the arms of the Lord on August 19, 2019 at Elmcroft Senior Living in Wharton, Texas. She was born on January 14^th, 1922 in Blooming Grove, Texas to John Drake and Rena Holcomb Ramsey.

Dorothy was raised in Mart, Texas with her three siblings including William Ramsey, Bess Ramsey Burney and Charles Ramsey. After graduating from high school, Dorothy attended Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas.  After a year, she moved to Freeport and was hired by Dow Chemical.

Dorothy met Jacob Wendell Reeves (a.k.a.  Buster) while living in Freeport.    They had on child Jane Elizabeth, but were parental influences for many youth throughout the years.

While living in Freeport, Dorothy was also employed by Gulf Coast S&S, Inc.  She retired in 1985 and moved to Wharton in 1986.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Jane Wied and Husband Mark of Garwood, grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Peacock and husband David of Garwood and Douglas Blake Wied and Wife Denise of Garwood and seven great grandchildren. She is proceeded in Death by her husband Jacob “Buster” Reeves, sister Bess Burney and brothers Charles Ramsey and William Ramsey.

Visitation will be held at Wharton Funeral Home on Friday August 23^rd, 2019 at 9:00 am Funeral service will Follow at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Clute, Texas.
