Donald Banks Barbee

Donald Banks Barbee, 62, of Wharton passed away February 23, 2019, due to complications from a recent illness.  He was born August 7, 1956 to Donald Blakely Barbee and Isabel Koehler Barbee, the youngest of their four children.  Raised in the Christian faith, Donald attended First United Methodist Church of Wharton throughout his youth.  As an adult, Donald Banks shared a career alongside his father, Donald and brothers Max and Milton as an electrician and crane operator until he was physically unable to continue his work.  Donald’s children were his source of pride, and he loved time with friends and family, and he was enjoying getting to know his young granddaughters.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Donald Blakely Barbee and is survived by his loving mother Isabel Barbee, wife Shirley Barbee, son and daughter in law Covey and Brittany Barbee of Wharton, daughter and son in law Candice and Jared Robertson of Beeville, and his three beautiful granddaughters Bonnimarie and Amelia Robertson and Charlotte Barbee, as well as his brothers Max and Milton Barbee and sister Lynette Listak and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Wharton Funeral Home. Services will also be held at Wharton Funeral Home on February 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM, with an interment following at Evergreen Cemetery in Wharton. 

Donald had a very giving and loving heart.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Victory in Jesus Recovery Center in Wharton.
