Don Mack McLeod, 92, of Iago, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his residence in Iago. Born on November 12, 1932, in Iago, TX to the late Mack Albert and Ruth Mick McLeod. Don lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Don Mack was raised in the Iago area, graduating from Boling ISD. He had a wonderful childhood, filled with hunting and fishing, caring for animals and learning the ways of the world. He served in the United States Air Force earning his honorary discharge. Don Mack married Kathrine Kulak on November 18, 1950, in Iago. They built a life of love and happiness on Mick Street. He worked at Texas Gulf Sulphur for many years and ranched on the side. Many people called on his help with sick or difficult birthing cattle over the years, and Don would come running with help and probably a story or two. He loved helping the youth, whether it be the Children of Wharton County, where he was a founding member of the Wharton County Youth Fair, or Texas, as he was a lifetime chair member and assistant livestock supervisor of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He loved a good game of dominoes and visiting with people, in fact, everyone that ran into him on the street or at HEB got a Don Mack story (long version and slightly exaggerated). He was also the President of the Clan- McLeod Society of North America. Don Mack was proud of his Scottish heritage and visited Scotland and the MacLeod Castle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mickren and Karl McLeod and sister, Barbara McDonald.
