Dennis Ray Campbell

March 4, 1943 — December 26, 2023

Dennis Ray Campbell left this Earth to be with our Lord and Savior on December 26, 2023.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born March 4, 1943, in Bristol, VA. He grew up in a large family with 7 siblings in Abingdon, Virginia. As a young adult, he followed the advice of an aunt to move to Houston to find better job opportunities. He was proud to tell everyone that he worked from the day he arrived until he retired. His highest achievement was working for 42 years as a Millwright for Turbocare.  He worked hard to provide for his family.

Dennis always dreamed of having a family of his own. He met Carol through mutual friends in 1963. They were married in 1966 and had two daughters. They just recently celebrated their 57th anniversary.  Dennis and Carol grew vegetables in their backyard garden in Houston.  When Dennis retired in 2009, they moved to Wharton where they could make a much larger garden. He also raised cattle, which gave him a reason to drive his tractor around outside. He preferred to be outside all day.

He had various hobbies throughout the years: played horseshoes, baseball, bowling, fishing, dancing, gardening, and Nascar.

Survivors include wife Carol Campbell of Wharton, Texas. Two daughters, Donna Pavlowich and her husband Damon of Silsbee, Texas, Kimberly Campbell with her husband William Posey of Deer Park, Texas. Grandchildren include Brian Lott and Ashley Lott of Pasadena, Texas. Step Grandchildren Samantha Posey and William Posey Jr. of Deer Park, Texas. Great Grandchildren Rosemary Posey, Raiden Holder, and Walter Mahoney.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rosa Campbell Lewis; sister Charlene Byars; sister Doris Ann Gobble; and sister Ruby Roark.

Surviving siblings; sister Nancy Haworth, brothers Marvin Campbell, David Lewis Jr., and Edward Lewis.
